Change-over-Time Essay


When writing the Change-over-Time Essay, students will be asked to examine how a region or culture has either changed or stayed the same (continuity) over time.
Students should begin the Change-over-Time Essay Writing Exam with a 5-minute brainstorming/organization period; students will have 40-minute writing period.


There is no one perfect way to write a Change-over-Time Essay, as long as your essay provides support or evidence for your THESIS.


When writing, students must:

  • Discuss the changes that have occurred over time
  • Discuss the things that have stayed the same over time
  • Make sure your thesis is supported with evidence.
  • Stay within the assigned time period: 600-1450, 1450-1750, 1750-1914 and 1914 to the present.
  • Answer all parts of the question
